Background
Since 2004, Florida DEP has conducted Source Water
Assessments for all public water systems in
Florida
. These assessments identify
potential sources of contamination in source water protection areas, and rank
the susceptibility of the water supply to these potential sources.
Information and methods developed as part of these assessments include
the source water assessment results/reports, the data sets used in the
assessment process, and the Florida Aquifer Vulnerability Assessment (FAVA) -- a
tool developed by the Florida Geological Survey to use in predicting aquifer
vulnerability.
